The must-see seaside towns of the Alpes-Maritimes

Towards the east of the department, discover
âą Beaulieu-sur-Mer: This chic town will transport you to another era with its many Belle Ăpoque buildings, including the Villa KĂ©rylos, which you can visit! Discover its marina and restaurants as well.
⹠Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat: The famous "peninsula of billionaires" is renowned for its relaxed lifestyle and unspoiled natural beauty. Explore it on foot along its coastal paths, which will lead you to its lighthouse at the tip of the famous Cap Ferrat. Enjoy its small marina and restaurants. Visit the renowned Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild, a magnificent palace surrounded by nine themed gardens: a French garden, a Spanish garden, a Florentine garden, a lapidary garden, a Japanese garden, an exotic garden, a Provençal garden, and a rose garden. An invitation to travel!
âą Monaco: A small, independent city-state on the French Mediterranean coast, known for its upscale casinos, its yacht-filled marina, and its prestigious Formula 1 Grand Prix, which takes place on the streets of Monaco once a year. Monte Carlo, its main district, is home to elegant Belle Ăpoque casinos and the Salle Garnier, the opera house. It also boasts numerous luxury hotels, boutiques, nightclubs, and restaurants, not to mention its Rock, with the Oceanographic Museum of Monaco, its cathedral, and the Prince's Palace.
âą Cap d'Ail, Beausoleil, and Roquebrune-Cap-Martin: Three small towns that encircle the Principality of Monaco from east to west.
âą Menton: Known for its Lemon Festival (in February), its beaches, and its gardens, such as the Serre de la Madone, which houses rare plants. To the east, the old medieval town located on the slopes of the hill is home to the Basilica of Saint Michael, with its 18th-century bell tower, and the Chapel of the White Penitents with its decorated facade.
Towards the west of the department
âą Cagnes-sur-Mer: Located adjacent to Saint-Laurent-du-Var, this town boasts a beautifully developed seaside promenade, restaurants, and a racecourse. Don't miss a shopping trip to "Polygone Riviera," which offers a unique experience that immerses visitors in the lifestyle malls of California and Florida, incorporating French culture and lifestyle into the concept. It's a unique open-air center, the only one of its kind in France.
âą Villeneuve-Loubet and its Marina
⹠Antibes: Known for its old town surrounded by 16th-century ramparts that enclose the star-shaped Fort Carré. This fort overlooks the luxurious yachts moored in the Vauban marina. A wooded peninsula dotted with sumptuous villas, Cap d'Antibes separates Antibes from Juan-les-Pins, a chic seaside resort with a vibrant nightlife and home to the Jazz à Juan music festival. Juan-les-Pins is also known for its long sandy beaches and its seafront promenade lined with elegant open-air restaurants, fashion boutiques, cocktail bars, and nightclubs. A special mention goes to Plage de la Garoupe.
⹠Cannes: Famous for its international film festival. La Croisette, the boulevard that runs along the coast, is lined with fine sandy beaches, luxury boutiques, and grand hotels. This boulevard is also home to the Palais des Festivals et des CongrÚs, a modern building with its red carpet, and the Allée des Stars, Cannes' "walk of fame."
âą Mandelieu-la-Napoule: A seaside resort with a beautiful beach lined with restaurants. (2 photos)
⹠Théoule-sur-Mer: Located at the southern tip of the Alpes-Maritimes department. The town lies east of the Esterel Massif (a road lined with red rock, a hidden beach, and picturesque restaurants and villas), on whose foothills it sits, and west of the Bay of Cannes. Special mention goes to the Lérins Islands of Sainte-Marguerite and Saint-Honorat.

The most beautiful villages of the Alpes-Maritimes
âą St. AgnĂšs: A medieval village that proudly holds the title of "highest coastal village in Europe" at 780 meters above sea level.
âą Saorge: Perched high above the Roya Gorge.
âą Peillon: Clinging to the mountainside, Peillon is a medieval village that seems suspended in time. Its cobbled streets and vaulted passageways offer a peaceful and picturesque setting. Peillon is home to a 12th-century church with remarkable frescoes. The village's isolation contributes to its mystical atmosphere, and a feeling of stepping back in time is palpable as you wander through its narrow streets.
âą Ăze Village: One of the most beautiful views on the French Riviera: Villefranche-sur-Mer, Monaco, Saint-Jean-Cap-FerratâŠ
⹠Lucéram: The village with 500 nativity scenes (a must-see during the holiday season).
âą Coaraze: A medieval village nicknamed the "village of the sun."
⹠Biot: Biot is renowned for its glassblowing. This picturesque village combines history, culture, and innovation around this traditional art. The Fernand Léger National Museum is nearby. You will be captivated by the glassblowing workshops, where you can watch the artisans at work. The beauty of the glass creations is truly remarkable.
âą Saint-Paul-de-Vence: Renowned for its artistic vibrancy, Saint-Paul-de-Vence is an ode to creativity. Its history-laden walls have inspired numerous artists, painters, writers, and filmmakers. The art galleries scattered throughout the village offer a true journey through art. The village is famous for its Maeght Foundation, an open-air museum of modern and contemporary art. A unique artistic atmosphere permeates the cobbled streets.
âą Tourrettes-sur-Loup: the violet capital, 8 km from the renowned Saint-Paul-de-Vence.
âą Gourdon: A balcony overlooking the Loup Gorges and the Mediterranean.
And many other outings, depending on your preferences.
Explore the 3 Corniches
Connecting Nice to Menton, these three roads offer exceptional views and are the setting for numerous events! Indeed, the Three Corniches are a true invitation to travel!
If you haven't yet discovered the Lower Corniche, the Middle Corniche (as the locals call it), or the Grande Corniche, we invite you to explore them.
1 â The Lower Corniche, the coastal road
The Lower Corniche winds along the rugged coastline, allowing you to discover some very beautiful and elegant seaside resorts. It begins at the port of Nice and ends in Menton, located just before the Italian border. Our journey along the Lower Corniche will take us to Cap d'Ail, the last town we'll pass through within mainland FranceâŠ
2 â The Middle Corniche: Panoramic Views of the Coastal Villages
The Middle Corniche rises a few hundred meters above sea level, winding along steep cliffs and offering exceptional views. More precisely, it begins in the port district, at Place Max Barel. This is also the former National Route 7, the "Holiday Route," which connected Paris to Menton! One can easily imagine the delight of the vacationers who ended their journey overlooking the Mediterranean Sea!
3 â The Grande Corniche: The Most Spectacular
The Grande Corniche is located at an altitude of over 400 meters. It is the oldest road, built on the orders of Napoleon I. The Corniche follows the route of the Roman road "Via Augusta," and some sections are original. It starts in the Riquier district of Nice, more precisely on Boulevard Bischoffsheim. Perched on the cliffside, it's the most famous, the most legendary, the most challenging, the wildest. In short, the most spectacular of the three Corniches!
